Thailand is preparing to build a 168-kilometer Thai-Cambodian border fence, cut off electricity and internet to prevent cross-border and online crimes.

On February 12, 2025, several relevant Thai ministers went to Aranya District, Sa Kaeo Province, to monitor the situation along the border and promote security measures against online fraudsters.

In the security measures, the Thai government is preparing to build a fence along the 168 km border with a budget of 286 million baht. In addition, there will be additional checkpoints and security cameras on the roads, and the installation of dummy towers to detect fake phone signals and prevent the use of illegal cross-border telephone networks. In particular, all illegal Internet poles have been removed.


However, after the National Security Council (NSC) meeting, the Thai government will prepare to suspend the distribution of electricity, fuel, and internet in some provinces such as Sa Kaeo, Chang Cham, Surin, Chang Sangam, Sri Saket, Trat, and Koh Kong.
